It's hard to imagine someone who can handle the complexities of building a jet engine not being able to handle the task of changing a light bulb. And yet, sometimes, our faith in God can falter and we can forget that his power is immense. Genesis 1:1 says, "In the beginning, God," and the chapters that follow describe God speaking all that we currently taste, touch, see, and smell into existence. God's power and ability is beyond comprehension by the human mind. He can actually bring new life into being! Think about that. The same God who has such power and sovereignty over our universe asks us to trust Him in all areas of our lives. When our hearts are burdened, we can trust Him. He can bring lost family, friends, and co-workers from death to life spiritually, and much, much more. He is, after all, the Lord of the harvest. How does God's creative power impact the way you pray for lost people in your life?

An ambassador is a person sent as an official representative on behalf of someone else. As followers of Jesus, it is both our opportunity and our responsibility to represent God as His ambassadors. That responsibility may seem lofty, but it is indeed ours. As God's ambassadors, we want others to be reconciled to Him. After all, when God changes your life, it's hard not to tell others about the change. Are you sharing your faith and life change with others so that they, too, can be reconciled to God? How are you intentionally building relationships with those who don't know God at all? But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people" Luke 2:10
On April 4, 1968 Martin Luther King Jr. was shot and killed at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, TN. He was assassinated for his leadership role in the Civil Rights movement that had already begun to forever change the United States. The message of Martin Luther King was a message rooted in God's Word, and, as such, he was used mightily by God. Although we may look different from one another, speak different languages, and even be from different parts of the world, God tell us that we are all the bearers of His image and always have been. Even the Gospel itself contradicted deeply held beliefs in the Jewish world at the time that it arrived. Before the arrival of the Gospel, Jewish traditions held that God restricted his goodness to a very specific chosen people. With Jesus, however, came the good news of great joy for ALL people. That good news the sin-destroying, life-giving, transforming gospel of Jesus Christ is still for all people everywhere! Is your view of the gospel's reach limited to a particular kind of people? Do you seek to share the good news with 'all' the people? Now the Lord said to Abram, 'Go forth from your country, and from your relatives and from your father's house, to the land which I will show you; and I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great; and so you shall be a blessing; and I will bless those who bless you, and the one who curses you I will curse. And in you all the families of the earth will be blessed." Genesis 12:1-3
The sobering reality of our lives here on earth is that we will all be forgotten soon enough. Sorry for the bad news, but think about it: do you know your great-grandmother's name? How about your great-great-grandfather's name? Chances are, you don't. What this reveals to us is that most of us are two to three or, at best, four generations from being forgotten. Encouraging, right?! As followers of Jesus, the value of the physical fruit of " things" pales in comparison to the impact we can imagine of our eternal fruit. God tells Abram that " all the families of the earth will be blessed" through him. That's nothing short of a legacy but it's not a legacy of wealth or possessions. All the families of earth were blessed by Abram because of his faith in the Lord! Because of his faith, the fruit of his life has impacted us today! In the same way, the fruit of our fellowship with God has a impact far greater than anything else we will leave behind. Three generations from now, people may not remember your name, but your spiritual life can certainly yield an impact that sets the course of your family forever. What are you spending time on today that will be forgotten? How can you invest in eternity by the way you live today? “His divine power has granted to us all things.” 2 Peter 1:3
When you purchase a car, and get in it to drive, you are, seemingly instantaneously, equipped with all you need to get from point A to point B. The car has all the workings of the engine. It has the power, the steering wheel, the seatbelt, and even the safety air bag to protect you in the event of a crash. All you have to do is get in, power up the ignition, and experience the ride. God has all the workings of His Holy Spirit, His power, and the protection of His loving arms to keep you safe as you travel from this life into the next. All you have to do is get in Him, power up by spending daily time in His word, in prayer hear His directions for the day, and get ready for the ride of your life. How can you begin to dispel the lies that "you can't" and believe that, in His divine power, "God can"? |
