"And do not seek what you will eat and what you will drink, and do not keep worrying. For all these things the nations of the world eagerly seek; but your Father knows that you need these things. But seek His kingdom, and these things will be added to you." Luke 12:29-31
If you've ever taught a kid to ride a bike, you know one of the hardest things to get them to do is stop staring at their feet. They naturally assume that looking down will help them keep their balance. The ironic truth is, the only way they'll be able to stay on the bike is to lift their eyes and start pedaling. Focusing on the problem is not the solution! Jesus' words in this verse show us how this principle fits everyday life. Our material needs (food, clothing, shelter) are a part of the reality of life. We don't need to be foolishly optimistic about our situation. But the solution to our crisis is found in God's generosity, not our grief. We need to exchange our worries to our loving Father, who is more than able to meet our needs. Therefore, this verse gives us great confidence as we pursue His Kingdom and His mission! Prayer: What legitimate concern of life do you need to turn over to God for His gracious provision today?
